About us

Launched during Summer 2007, the Brighton Marina Berth Holders Association (BMBHA) is primarily responsible for representing the interests of its members to Premier Marinas and to other businesses in the marina. Formed with the co-operation and support of Premier Marinas, the BMBHA was established with the assistance of the RYA, and its structure is based on the RYA-approved model for berth holders’ associations. It is the first berth holders’ association to be formally established with RYA approval at Brighton Marina, since the first boats arrived in 1978.

Brighton Marina is still one of the largest marina complexes in Europe, with 1600 berths. The BMBHA is providing all berth holders here with a purpose-built communications channel for airing opinions and a vehicle for ensuring that all suggestions are heard. Our objective is to manage communication between berth holders and Premier Marinas as effectively as possible, to ensure that a mature, professional approach is maintained by all parties, while addressing any issues as they arise. We, and Premier Marinas, see it as a win-win situation that benefits both sides – it gives everyone mooring their boats at Brighton a chance to provide feedback for Premier Marinas, and have a positive influence on the marina’s long-term direction and development.

Structure of the BMBHA

The BMBHA’s structure is based on a core committee, which handles the running of the association, supported by other volunteers who take on particular roles from time to time – such as managing social events, updating this website and acting as moderators for our discussion Forum. Please see the Contact Us page for details of our current committee members and their roles.

We hold regular meetings, to which all berth holders are invited and at which members of our association are entitled to vote. Between meetings, any berth holder seeking support on a particular issue can contact their pontoon representative, who may be able to handle the enquiry. If not, the pontoon rep will either contact the committee on the berth holder’s behalf, or talk to Premier Marinas direct, depending on the nature of the enquiry. Our ultimate aim is to have a pontoon representative on every pontoon in the marina – please see the Contact Us page for details. If your pontoon still needs a rep, then please volunteer – we’d appreciate your help!
